Starting his IPL 2019 journey with Kings XI Punjab today, West Indies’ cricketer Chris Gayle will be eyeing another milestone when he comes in to bat against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Maansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Gayle, who has many records to his name in IPL, is just 6 runs away from scoring 4000 runs in Indian Premier League. The left-handed batsman has 3994 runs in 112 IPL matches, along with six centuries and 24 half-centuries.
If he scores six more runs, he will join the elite list of cricketers like Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan and MS Dhoni, all of them have scored more than 4000 runs in IPL. Given the form Gayle has at present, Gayle could reach the milestone as soon as he comes to bat. Gayle recently played 4 ODIs against England, where he scored 424 runs at an average of 106.
In the first match of IPL 2019, Suresh Raina become the first cricketers to reach 5000 runs in IPL as Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in a low-scoring match.
