First World War bomb timer among antiques stolen in burglary

Police are asking for the public to keep an eye out for these unusual items as they hunt the thieves

Historic collectables including First World War memorabilia was snatched during a burglary at an elderly couple's house.

Police are urging the public to help trace the "very identifiable" items after a break in at the couple's home in Hawarden, Flintshire, last month.

Items including a First World War bomb timer, inscribed tobacco boxes and a rose gold necklace with rubies were stolen during the raid.

It took place when the couple were out of the house some time overnight between February 26 and February 27.

PC Catherine McHarrie said: "A large number of antiques and very identifiable items were stolen, including several gents watches, a number of Liverpool FC and Armed Forces pin badges, a rose gold choker necklace inset with rubies dating back to the 1900s and various First World War memorabilia such as inscribed tobacco and snuff boxes and a brass timer for a First World War bomb.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been offered such items over the past few weeks.”

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 19100078230.
