Milind Deora is Mumbai Congress chief
Prafulla Marpakwar | TNN | Updated: Mar 26, 2019, 04:21 ISTMUMBAI: In an unexpected decision taken just ahead of the LS elections and a month before Mumbaikars cast their votes on April 29, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday sacked Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam (55) and appointed former Union minister Milind Deora (45) in his place.
The move is being seen as a major setback for Shiv Sainik-turned Congressman Nirupam, who had been at loggerheads with most senior Congress leaders in Mumbai ever since he took over as the party’s city chief in 2015.
Some reprievecame Nirupam’s way on Monday as the Congress nominated him as its candidate from the Mumbai North-West Lok Sabha constituency.
