Scandic

Scandic has signed an agreement to expand two Scandic hotels in Norway with a total of 266 rooms in connection with the extension of the lease agreements.

Scandic has made an agreement with property owner Eiendomsspar to renovate and expand Scandic Helsfyr in Oslo in conjunction with extending the lease agreement. Close to 200 new rooms will be added to the hotel, bringing the number of rooms from 253 to 450 and making Scandic Helsfyr the largest Scandic hotel in Norway. In addition to the new rooms, the conference facilities will be renovated and a new 300 m2meeting space will be added. The expansion is expected to be completed during 2021, and is in line with Scandic’s expectation of continued good demand development in the hotel market in the Oslo region.

Scandic has also signed an agreement for an expansion with property owner Utstillingsplassen to add 69 rooms to the existing Scandic Hamar in Hamar, Norway, bringing the total number of rooms to 308 in addition to renovating the hotel’s conference facilities. The new rooms are expected to be in operation during 2021. The parties also agreed to extend the existing lease agreement.

– These renovations and developments are important for our offering in the Norwegian market. We will create a large, attractive hotel in the expanding Helsfyr area in Oslo and also further strengthen our market position in Hamar, says Svein Arild Steen-Mevold, Head of Scandic Hotels Norway.

Scandic is the largest hotel company in the Nordic countries with more than 280 hotels, in operation and under development, in more than 130 destinations.
