The city police have advised the people not to carry huge cash or valuables, unless they have valid documents in support of the money and valuables.
“As the model code of conduct for the general elections is in force, unaccounted cash and valuables without valid documents in support of the transactions will be seized,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-I, Visakhapatnam) M. Ravindranath Babu said on Sunday.
He also said that all poll candidates and political leaders must take prior permission from the Returning Officer for conducting meetings, taking out rallies and campaigns. The candidates and their supporters must abide by the norms laid down for electioneering, he added.
Security bandobust
Referring to the security bandobust for the elections, Mr. Ravindranath Babu said flying squads, surveillance teams, monitoring teams and a few others were monitoring the areas identified as ‘problematic’. Strict action will be initiated against the rowdy-sheeters who have been bound over for violating the norms.
Helpline
The DCP appealed people to inform police about incidents of distribution of money, gifts, liquor and etc. “In case of inconvenience, people can dial the helpline 100” he added.
