A Hong Kong tourist will face court after his female roommate allegedly discovered a hidden camera in their shared hostel bathroom at a popular tourist hotspot.
Police said a female French backpacker, 27, booked into a hostel in Bondi Beach in Sydney's eastern suburbs on Sunday, where she was allocated a room with an ensuite shared with a man unknown to her.
The woman had finished showering on Monday night when she spotted a toiletry bag on the sink, with what appeared to be a small camera allegedly hidden within a deodorant stick.

She took photos of the device before contacting police, who attended the Lamrock Avenue hostel, where they arrested a Hong Kong man, 36, who was holidaying in Sydney.
Police alleged the remnants of a smashed camera were found while the man was being searched.
Police also searched his belongings and allegedly found numerous hard drives and storage devices which allegedly contained further videos of women discreetly filmed in private acts.
The man was charged with installing device, adapting building to observe or film other and possession of surveillance devices intended for unlawful use.
He was refused bail to appear in Waverley Local Court on Tuesday.
