Ludhiana: A 15-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide at his house in Dairy Complex on Sunday, after his father reprimanded him over studies.
Roshan Kumar, a Class IX student, was the eldest among four siblings.

Police said as Roshan was weak in studies, his parents scolded him on Saturday.

Roshan’s father Vivekanand, a labourer, said, “I wanted my son to study hard and get a good job. I reprimanded him as he was ignoring his studies. I did not want him to end up being a labourer like me.”

PAU police station SHO inspector Bhagwant Bhullar said, “After the family went to sleep, Roshan told his younger brother around 10.30pm that he was going to the other room to sleep. On Sunday morning, when his father went to wake him up, he found the room bolted from inside. When Roshan did not answer his repeated knocks, he broke open the door and found him hanging from a ceiling fan.”

The police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.
