Teen drowns in pool, guard dies trying to save him
TNN | Mar 26, 2019, 04:51 ISTCoimbatore: A 16-year-old boy, who had ventured into a swimming pool at a hotel situated near the Law College on Marudhamalai Road, drowned on Monday. A security guard, who tried to rescue him, also lost his life.
The deceased were identified as P Anbuselvan of Indira Nagar at Vadavalli and M Devaraj, 58, of Teachers Colony at Kurumbapalayam in Vedapatti. Anbuselvan was a Class XI student at a private school in Kalveerampalayam. “He was in the pool along with four friends. He later swam to the seven-feet deep area of the pool with a friend and began to drown. Devaraj, who saw the children struggling for life, jumped into the pool and tried to save Anbuselvan. However, he also drowned. Meanwhile, the other boy managed to escape,” a police officer said.
Locals rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies from the pool. The Vadavalli police sent the bodies to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.TNN
