BHOPAL: The atmosphere in the Congress as well as in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) camps is that of unease after ex-Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh has been fielded as Congress candidate from the state capital. According to sources the supporters of Singh fear that ex-Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan may be fielded from Bhopal. And if that happens, it will be problem for the Congress, so to change the mind of Chouhan, the supporters of Singh have begun to make efforts, added sources.
Treasurer of the state Congress and a close aide of Singh, Govind Goel, visited the residence of Chouhan and held a closed-door meeting with him. Goel’s visit is seen as election management of Singh. According to sources the BJP is also thinking about fielding Chouhan against Singh.
Both Chouhan and BJP’s state party president Rakesh Singh held talks over Bhopal constituency. Chouhan has reportedly told his party bosses that he is ready to fight election from any constituency in the state. Those aspiring BJP ticket: Bhopal MP Alok Sanjar, mayor Alok Sharma and party’s general secretary VD Sharma- are feeling uneasy after Singh entry into fray. They feel that the BJP is all set to field a heavyweight from the city. The RSS is also keeping vigil on the seat.
Sweets may have been distributed in Pakistan: Rameshwar Sharma
BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma, known for making controversial statements said that sweets may have been distributed in Pakistan after fielding of Digvijaya Singh from Bhopal. Even a BJP worker can defeat Singh, he said.
Bantadhar Digvijaya returns: Singh, Shivraj Singh
After the fielding of Digvijaya Singh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said it is the return of bantadhar (spoiler). He said Singh is not challenge for the BJP. On his contesting election from Bhopal, Chouhan said he would follow the party’s decision on the issue. Party’s state president Rakesh Singh said Digvijaya would make no difference to the party that would win the Bhopal seat.
Congress begins poll preparations
The Congress has begun preparations after Digvijaya Singh has been given ticket from Bhopal. A team is reaching Bhopal to work for Singh. Public relations minister PC Sharma has begun to hold booth-war meetings.
