LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav will contest 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Azamgarh — the seat currently held by his father and party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, who has opted for the Yadav bastion of Mainpuri.
The party’s Muslim face and senior leader Azam Khan will also make his Lok Sabha poll debut from Rampur on a SP ticket.
The party also released a list of 40 star campaigners for first and second phase of polls. Though Mulayam Singh Yadav tops the list, party sources said he’s likely to address select rallies owing to ill health. This is not the first time, Mulayam cut short his campaign schedule. In 2017 assembly elections too, he addressed few rallies despite 18 public meetings in his itinerary.
