Releases a people’s charter of demands

The All India People’s Forum (AIPF) has called for defeating the BJP and its allies in the Lok Sabha election, terming the ruling Centre as a Government for capitalists. A convention of the forum held in here on Sunday also released a people’s charter of demands with a focus to garner votes against the BJP in the polls.

“Modi's Government is the most dangerous Government the country has ever seen. It led the country into maximum unemployment in the last 45 years. It is trying to avoid answering questions...we are appealing through this charter to everybody in the country to vote to defeat the BJP and its allies and make sure that they are not re-elected because they will not allow India's democracy and people's right to survive,” said Kavita Krishnan, national executive committee member of AIPF and central committee member of CPI (Marxist-Leninist).

Ms. Krishnan said the aim of the people’s charter was to turn questions against the Modi Government and say what are the people’s issues. She blamed the Government stating that it was diverting conversations to Pulwama, Balakot and the Army.

“We want the Government to answer on its job which is what the charter is all about. We will use it to hold the new Government accountable even if it is a non-BJP Government,” she said.

CPI (ML) leader R. Vidyasagar, also convener of AIPF’s Tamil Nadu chapter, said they would work to defeat the BJP and its allies in Tamil Nadu while supporting Left party candidates in constituencies where they contest.

Koodankulam anti-nuclear activist S.P. Udayakumar said that defeating BJP and its supporting parties was the only way to restore democracy in the country.
