Coimbatore: The CPM on Monday sought a probe into all suicide cases of women in Pollachi in the past seven years.

Filing his nomination papers for Coimbatore parliament constituency on Monday, CPM candidate P R Natarajan said the ruling AIADMK government should be dethroned to ensure a free and fair probe into the Pollachi sexual assault case.

“Only if the AIADMK is thrown out of power, a thorough probe could be conducted to bring the culprits to justice,” he told reporters. Natarajan also called on police to re-investigate suicide cases of women in Pollachi as they could be victims of the sex scandal, besides a thorough probe into the complaint lodged by the 19-year-old victim.

The CPM candidate, among other things, promised to take steps to bring Coimbatore-Bengaluru night train if people voted him as their representative.
