NEW DELHI: The Times of India is the most trusted English media brand in India, according to Oxford University's Reuters Institute India Digital News Report released on Monday.
According to the report, The Times of India was rated highest in terms of trustworthiness by the users of private news brands and second highest overall. Among the respondents who are aware of the brand but have not used it in the past week, The Times of India emerged as the clear winner with a score of 7.42 on a scale of 0-10 where 0 is ‘not at all trustworthy’ and 10 is ‘completely trustworthy’.
The report says that legacy brands such as The Times of India are among the most trusted in the country while newer entrants, despite highly rated by their users, are significantly less trusted more broadly.
The report, based on a study by Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, also reveals that only 39% trust the ‘news they use’ most of the time and just 36% trust the ‘news in general’ most of the time.
