Rivalry may have caused labourer’s murder
TNN | Mar 25, 2019, 07:13 ISTLudhiana: The post-mortem report of Zari Lal (36), a labourer from Model Town, has revealed he was stabbed several times on his head, eyes, and stomach. Moreover, his throat was also slit, which caused his death. After the autopsy report, now police are suspecting rivalry to be the reason behind the murder.
Zari Lal was found murdered in Bagha Kalan village in Ladhowal on Saturday morning. Police said the man, whose hands and legs were tied, had died a few days ago, as the body had started decomposing. Zari had gone missing from the house on March 11 without informing anyone, following which his cousin Kundan Kumar also lodged a missing complaint with Model Town police station on March 14.
On Sunday, a board of doctors conducted the post-mortem. The report has also revealed that the man died 10-12 days ago. He was stabbed with a knife twice on his head, once in the eye, and thrice in his stomach, and his throat was also slit.
In his statement, Kundan said he, his cousin, and another man lived in a rented accommodation in Model Town. On March 11, Zari left the house around 4.30pm without informing anyone. When he did not return till late in the evening, Kundan dialled his number, but Zari did not respond. Around 9.30pm, Zari answered the call and asked Kundan to prepare dinner, saying he was returning. But he did not come back. The next morning, when his room-mates tried to contact him on phone, it was found switched off.
Model Town SHO inspector Satnam Singh said the police have already registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. The autopsy report reveals Zari was killed brutally, with rivalry suspected as the reason. The police are questioning Zari’s room-mates to fish out some clues. So far, they have not come across any person who had a personal rivalry with Zari Lal.
