PATNA: Rebel BJP MP from Patna Sahib Shatrughan Sinha will join Congress by the end of this week. “He (Shatrughan) will join (Congress) either on March 28 or 29 in New Delhi,” Bihar Congress campaign committee chairman and Rajya Sabha member Akhilesh Prasad Singh told reporters at Patna airport on Monday.
There had been rumours for the past couple of weeks that Shatrughan may join Congress. Annoyed with Shatrughan for his constant criticism of PM Modi and his government, BJP denied him a ticket and, instead, fielded Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib. Both Ravi Shankar and Shatrughan Sinha are from the Kayastha caste. Patna Sahib has a significant number of forward caste votes.
Sinha indicated his inclination towards Congress on Sunday when he tweeted “Time has come for Congress Yukt Bharat”.
