Father of 2 arrested for raping minor neighbour
TNN | Mar 25, 2019, 07:12 ISTLudhiana: The police arrested a labourer on the charge of raping his 17-year-old neighbour in the city on Sunday.
The survivor said in her police complaint, “The accused, 30, lives near our house. Last year, he showed me pictures he had surreptitiously clicked while I was in the bath. Threatening to upload those pictures on social media, he repeatedly raped me over the past one year.”
When the survivor’s parents were looking for a match for her, the labourer sent those pictures to a prospective groom’s family. The survivor, a school drop-out, then broke down and apprised her family of her ordeal.
Her parents lodged a police complaint on Friday.
Investigating officer sub-inspector Manjit Kaur said, “The minor says she does not know when the accused clicked those pictures. He would rape her when her parents were not at home. The accused, who is married and has two children, was arrested from his house. We are yet to recover the objectionable pictures he used to blackmail and violate the minor.”
A case has been registered under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
