DMK alliance set for big win, says CPI candidate

Tirupur: Five candidates, including CPI’s K Subbarayan, filed nominations for the Tirupur constituency on Monday. “People should remember that this Lok Sabha elections would determine the fate of the country. This is a battle to save the Constitution and the country’s philosophical property of unity in diversity,” the 71-year-old candidate told reporters after filing the nomination before returning officer KS Palanisamy at the collectorate.

He said the BJP-led central government was losing popularity day by day because of its anti-people policies and people would vote the saffron party out of power this time.


Subbarayan hailed the DMK manifesto, saying it was prepared in a way to safeguard livelihoods of people. “The DMK-alliance will sweep both the Lok Sabha polls and byelections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.”


Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate C Ayyanar, 56, and independent candidates Selvaramalingam, of Koranampatti in Salem, Senthilvel, of Mannarai, and Jaganathan, of Gandhi Nagar, also filed their nominations on Monday.
