A sweet surprise awaited helmet-wearing riders at the Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) campus the other day.
A team of volunteers distributed chocolates to those who wore helmets inside the sprawling premises. According to a press note, the initiative was the idea of Subhash Chandra Parija, the Vice-Chancellor, to promote the use of helmets among faculty, staff, students, patients and public.
Banners on safety
According to A.R. Srinivasan, Registrar, in addition to the novel endeavour, banners on road safety in English and Tamil were hosted at vantage points in the hospital and college premises, urging two-wheeler users to comply with traffic rules and road safety. The initiative was undertaken as part of the institution’s social responsibility by the office of the Senior Personnel Manager, in association with the Head of the Human resources at SBV, the release said.
