Rishabh Pant's utterly destructive 78 powered Delhi Capitals to a 37-run win over Mumbai Indians in IPL on Sunday, giving further proof of why he should be on the World Cup-bound plane to England. Sent into bat, Delhi Capitals notched up an imposing 213 for six in the stipulated 20 overs, and buried under a pile of runs, there was not much of a riposte from the hosts, who were stopped at 176 in 19.2 overs after an injured Bumrah failed to show up with the willow. After being asked to bat first, Delhi Capitals didn't get off to a good start as opener Prithvi Shaw and skipper Shreyas Iyer were sent back to the pavilion inside the first four overs. Delhi at that stage were struggling on 29/2 in 3.4 overs. (AP Photo)

However, the duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Colin Ingram rallied the Delhi innings as they added 83 runs for the third wicket. But Ben Cutting gave Mumbai the much-needed breakthrough as he removed Ingram, who was caught by Hardik in the 13 over. Dhawan also threw his wicket away as Delhi slumped from 112 for two to 131 for four. (AP Photo)

But then it was the Pant show which made the difference at the end. Pant played an unbeaten knock of 78 runs off just 27 balls, which included seven towering sixes and as many fours at a Wankhede Stadium. His innings helped Delhi post an imposing total of 213/6 on the scoreboard. (AP Photo)

Jasprit Bumrah injured his left shoulder while bowling the team's final over, needing the help of Mumbai Indians physiotherapist Nitin Patel to laboriously walk back to the dugout, a development that kept the World Cup-bound Indian team on tenterhooks. (AP Photo)

Mitchell McClenaghan was the standout bowler for Mumbai as he picked 3 wickets while giving away 40 runs in his four-over quota. (AP Photo)

Chasing 214, Mumbai Indians were never in the fray. They lost skipper Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav early and Quinton De Kock also went back to the pavilion after scoring 27 off 16 balls. (AP Photo)

But then West Indian Kieron Pollard and Yuvraj Singh tried to resurrect the innings with their 50-run stand. Yuvraj did roll back the years with his fluent hitting, but his 53-run knock off 35 deliveries went in vain. (PTI Photo)
