BENGALURU: In a major relief to thousands of passengers and drivers across the state, State Transport Authority (STA) meeting on Monday has decided to withdraw its order suspending the licence of cab aggregator OIa for six months.
It has also decided to impose a fine of Rs 15 lakh on Ola for operating bike taxis in violation of rules.
Ola in a statement said, "We are glad that the issue stands resolved and we regret any inconvenience caused to our driver-partners and passengers since Friday. We look forward to continue working with the State, to help address the challenges of mobility. We are committed to creating and enhancing livelihood opportunities for millions of driver-partners in the time to come."
It may be recalled that STA had issued a notice dated March 18 to ANI Technologies, which operates Ola cabs, suspending its cab aggregator licence for six months for running bike taxis in city. However, Ola continued to operate its services including cars and autorickshaws in the city.
In Karnataka, Ola operates in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Ballari, Belagavi and Kalaburagi. Ola obtained the aggregator licence valid up to June 19, 2021 from the department in 2016.
