Valero Energy to shut Benicia refinery for multiple days Valero Energy Corp has begun the process of a controlled shutdown of its 145,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) Benicia refinery, as per the official website of the City of Benicia, California on Sunday.

The shutdown, which is expected to last for multiple days, is being conducted to improve conditions and minimise risk from earlier operational issues, the officials said in an advisory.

The refinery had been emitting particulates containing coke for most of the last week, it said.

Valero was not immediately available for a comment.
