Amritanandamayi gets honorary doctorate from Mysore varsity

KOLLAM (KERALA): Spiritualist Mata Amritanandamayi has been conferred with an honorary doctorate of letters by the Mysore University for her contribution to spiritual education and social work.
The D Litt was conferred on her by the university Vice-Chancellor G Hemantha Kumar at a function here Saturday.
Union minister of state for Health and Family Welfare Ashwani Kumar Choubey was among those present at the function held on the Amritapuri ashram premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Amritanandamayi said there was a need to ensure that academic research and science remained rooted in spiritual values such as truth, righteousness and compassionate service to the poor.
