Coconut vendor murdered on MG Road in Camp

Representative imagePUNE: A coconut vendor was murdered on the pavement of MG Road around 7.45pm on Friday.
The Cantonment police identified the deceased as Shanu alias Sultan Mohammad Hussain Sayyed (25) from Mohammadwadi. His assailants brutally attacked him with sharp weapons outside Wonderland, a shopping complex. The motive is not known. A police officer said, “Sayyed was doing business when a group of men with sharp weapons attacked him and fled.”
The official said, “The vendor was rushed to Sassoon hospital and succumbed to multiple injuries around 8.15pm. We suspect that he was murdered over a domestic dispute, but are verifying with his family members.”
Senior inspector Chandrakant Bhosale of the Cantonment police said, “We have identified three assailants and fanned teams to take them into custody.” The process of lodging an FIR was in progress at the time of going to press. The crime branch is conducting parallel investigations.
