NEW DELHI: Popular Haryanvi singer-dancer Sapna Chaudhary on Sunday refuted the reports that she has joined the Congress.
The Congress sources had, however, confirmed to TOI yesterday that she joined the party on an assurance of a ticket from Mathura.
"The photograph with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra that is being shared on social media is old. I am not going to campaign for any political party," she said.
"I meet with people of all parties and I am an artist. I am not joining politics. When I will join politics, I will come out in the open," she said.
However, contrary to Chaudhary claims, images have also emerged of the membership form that bears her picture and is allegedly signed by her as part of joining Congress. The membership form has been shared by the office of Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar.
Yesterday, UP Congress chief Raj Babbar had also tweeted a picture of Sapna along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and welcomed her to Congress.
On Saturday, there were speculations that Chaudhary would be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Mathura against MP and Bollywood actress Hema Malini.
Sapna Chaudhary shot into limelight with her stage dance on popular Haryanvi song “Teri Aakhya ka yo Kajal”. She had participated in reality show Big Boss 11 and made her Bollywood debut with an item number - “Hatt Ja Tau” in the movie -Veerey Ki wedding last year.
In Bhojpuri cinema, she was seen in a song - “Mere samne aake” for Ravi Kishan starring Bairi Kangana 2.
