Congress MP won’t give Gowda seat

BENGALURU: JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda is facing revolt in Tumakuru seat a day after he announced he will contest from there. The Tumakuru MP, SP Muddahanumegowda of Congress, said on Saturday he would file his nomination.


Tumakuru is one of the eight seats conceded to JD(S) as part of the seatsharing exercise. Muddahanumegowda is the only MP in Congress who was denied a ticket.


“I will file my nomination on Monday. No one can stop me,” he said.


Congress leaders, led by deputy chief minister G Parameshwara, is likely to meet the MP on Sunday.


Earlier in the day, JD(S) said Gowda would file nomination on Monday as a joint candidate of the JDS-Congress alliance in Tumakuru.
