Vehicles worth over Rs 12 lakh recovered from gang in Amreli

Rajkot: A six-member gang of vehicle thieves was busted in Pipalva village of Lathi taluka in Amreli district on Sunday morning. The Amreli LCB officials also recovered 31 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 12.5 lakh from the accused.
The accused were identified as Ghanshyam Chauhan (27), a resident of Pipalva village, Nilesh Vaghela (32), Tabrez Kariyani (25), Atul Jhamod (23), Kishan Hirpara (21) and Parth Jhambukiya (25), all residents of Botad.
“After stealing the vehicles, the accused would make their duplicate registration certificate (RC) books and tell their customers in villages that they had bought the vehicles in an auction by the bank as the owners of the vehicles were declared bank defaulters, they would sell the vehicles,” said D K Vaghela, Amreli LCB inspector.
Of the accused, Hirpara and Jhambukiya are computer students in Botad, while Vaghela and Kariyani do the installation work of CCTV cameras, Jhamod is a diamond worker and Chauhan is a farmer.
“The accused were arrested after we received a tip-off about the stolen vehicles parked in the farm belonging to Chauhan,” added Vaghela.
