Is Congress paying for its dynastic character: FM
TNN | Mar 25, 2019, 04:54 ISTNEW DELHI: Finance minister Arun Jaitley took a dig at the Congress leadership on Sunday and said unrest was simmering in the rival camp because of the growing realisation that the party was floundering as it was saddled with an incompetent dynast.
Nowadays, the minister said, some generic statements being frequently heard from Congress leaders were — ‘what can I do? He just doesn't listen’; ‘wait for the 24th of May, our politics will begin thereafter’; ‘I feel like quitting’; and ‘let’s prepare for 2024’.
The minister, in a blog titled ‘Is the Congress Party Now Paying the Cost for its Dynastic Character’, said an insecure leader was scared of the shadow of more talented people. “Is this the reason for the current mood within the Congress party? Or is it also the reason which persuades the Congress president to cross the line of decency and dignity when he refers to the prime minister?” he asked. Jaitley said dynasties owning political parties was an unfortunate phenomenon which had accelerated in the last three decades. “The Congress was original creator of this concept. Dynasties demolish organisational structures,” the FM said. Jaitley says the irony was that if the current generation dynast was lacking in charisma, understanding and popular confidence, the crowd around them got frustrated as was happening with Congress.
