ALLAHABAD: Allahabad University, which does not have a NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) ranking for the past 10 years, is all set to get it in the coming days. A team of NAAC would be visiting AU from March 26 for inspection of various departments and facilities on the campus.
In the last ranking, which was awarded by NAAC way back in 2003, AU had B++ ranking and the same had expired in 2008. Since then, although there were some efforts by the varsity authorities to invite the NAAC team on the campus, but the authorities somehow failed to comply with the norms and hence there was no NAAC ranking for AU since 2008.
Now after completing all the formalities, varsity would finely be receiving the NAAC team on March 26. The team would be on the campus for three days before ending their inspection on March 28.
The nomenclature and other details of the NAAC team is kept confidential by the authorities. Not even the varsity authorities have been informed about the number of members in the team or their names.
Sources inform that the team would have a chairman and Four-Five members. They would be visiting all the departments and centers in the Four faculties of AU and see for themselves all the facilities.
“Right from academic performance, the team members would inspect library, examination section, different administrative sections, amenities provided to students, their past record, hostel facilities etc”, said a senior member of AU who has himself been a team member of NAAC in the past.
The team members could interact with the students and also with some of the alumni of AU and get their feedback on the facilities of the institutions etc.
In view of preparation being made by the departments, almost all the departments have been busy setting the records in place for the past around one week. These department were open even on holidays barring the day of holi.
Refusing to given any comment on the issue, AU PRO Chitranjan Kumar said, “AU administration do not have anything to say or comment on the visit of NAAC on the campus”.
