200 detonators seized from car in Tamil Nadu

TIRUPUR: Police seized more than 200 electric detonators from a car in Tirupur district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
An election static surveillance team involved in vehicle check noticed more than 200 electric detonators in the car. Inquiries revealed that Sumsudeen of Ottanchattaram and Selvaraj of Puthuchathiram, both from Dindigul district, were transporting the explosives to use them for Ottanchattram-Avinashipalayam road widening work, said a police officer.
However, they were transporting the detonators without following the mandatory safety measures. The surveillance team informed the Moolanur police. The police registered a case and seized the detonators and the vehicle.
