GURUGRAM: Bhoop Singh Nagar in Bhondsi saw heavy police deployment on Saturday, two days after a group of men barged into a house and attacked the family members with sticks, a spear and hockey sticks.
Police officers said after an analysis of the video of the incident that went viral, it seems more than 10 people were involved in the attack. Seven accused persons have been identified and five police teams have been formed to look for them. The person who was arrested earlier has been identified as Mahesh, a local resident. The police said three-four others have been detained.
On Saturday, the deputy commissioner of police (south), Himanshu Garg, inspected the area. “Police are conducting raids to arrest the other accused,” he said. On Thursday, 20-odd men had attacked the two-storey house of Mohammad Dilshad(32).
The police complaint filed by Dilshad states that they began pelting stones at the house and vandalising motorbikes. The group then entered the building and the men sent the women and children to the second floor terrace. From there, one of the women, Danishta (21), shot the video that later became viral on social media.
On Saturday, Dilshad’s family met Sohna MLA Tejpal Tawar seeking action against the accused. The area has four-five families belonging to the minority community. While police personnel had been deployed soon after the attack, security was beefed up on Saturday after several outfits reacted to the incident. The Muslim Ekta Manch condemned the attack and the members said they will submit a memorandum to the police commissioner. Bhim Sena has threatened to dig up NH-48 if the accused are not caught.
