IPL 2019: 'Dhoni not Dinesh Review System'- Twitter reacts as Karthik takes DRS during KKR vs SRH match

MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik

IPL 2019: DRS is a complicated part of modern cricket. It sometimes goes in your favour and sometimes does not (when you are not MS Dhoni). Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik learned the lesson the hard way after he took a review during Sunrisers Hyderabad's innings during their Indian Premier League match on Sunday.

On final ball of the second over in the innings, Piyush Chawla hit the returning David Warner on the pads. There was a huge appeal but it seemed that the ball had pitched outside leg. The appeal got no response from the Umpire. Karthik went for the DRS after a long chat with Chawla. Replays confirmed that it has indeed pitched way outside leg and KKR lost the review.

Almost everyone on Twitter reacted in a similar manner to this:

Many fans in India have nicknamed DRS as Dhoni Review System as his perfect relationship with the review system is well-documented. Even during the IPL 2019 opening match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday, DRS came in favour of MSD - even if it was a lucky break.

During the 12th over, Imran Tahir's googly beat the defence of Navdeep Saini and CSK went for an appeal for lbw. As the finger remained down, Dhoni waited till the last possible second to take the review. DRS showed that it was not an LBW as there was some bat involved- an inside edge. However, Shane Watson has taken the catch in the slips as well which meant Dhoni's DRS mastery continued.

Dhoni later took another DRS when Ravindra Jadeja was bowling. However, he himself knew it was not out as his smile to the bowlers before taking the decision said it all.
