Chennai:
The incident happened a week ago when a long-term temporary member reached the club with a woman guest and consumed liquor till 11 pm.
“He entered into a quarrel with other members in the smoking room and called in two of his aides. One of the injured victims was rushed to a hospital,” said the source.
After the club authorities called the police, a team from the Egmore station allegedly book the victims, before letting them off. “The police did not take any action against him, because he is said to be politically influential. But what is worrying is that non-members of the club barging in and attacking the members,” said the source.
However, sources at the club said that it was the victims who have faced the police action and not the person who attacked them with his ‘bodyguards’, who are not members of the club.
