TNN | Mar 25, 2019, 04:06 ISTNagpur: Many workers of Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP joined BJP on Sunday in presence of guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule during a BJP workers’ meeting held in east Nagpur.
They include Anil Dhawde, who had contested municipal elections on Sena ticket, Anita Wankhede, Shobha Patel and Ravi Maske all of Sena. Anil Pethe and Bhupendra Chelani of NCP and Satish Bhoyar of Congress and their supporters also joined BJP.
Bawankule said that Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari had executed works worth Rs72,000 crore in the city and his victory was certain. “We want that Gadkari should win by a record margin. The whole city is waiting for April 11 to express its support for him,” he added.
Krishna Khopade, BJP MLA of Nagpur East, said that Gadkari had received 1.13 lakh votes from his constituency in 2014 — the highest among six assembly segments. “This time Gadkari will poll in 1.5 lakh votes. In east Nagpur alone development works worth Rs6,000 crore are going on,” he added.
