20 booked for clash between two groups in Samana

PATIALA: The police have booked 20 people under sections of IPC following a clash between two groups. The CCTV footage of the clash also went viral in which the youth injured each other with rods and swords while some accused rammed others with a Scorpio jeep.
The case has been registered at city Samana police under sections of IPC including an attempt to murder against 20 persons. The clash between both the groups reportedly took place on Saturday afternoon however the police has registered the case only on Sunday and maintained that the injured persons were unable to give any statement.
The police revealed that the two groups had an old rivalry and following this, they again landed in a clash near Ajit Nagar in Samana town of the district. The police added that four persons were seriously injured including three from one group and one from another group and were hospitalized. The police said that one injured person was hospitalized in Samana hospital whereas the other three were hospitalized in government Rajindra hospital Patiala.
The police claimed that the case was registered against both the groups on the complaint of the injured persons and their relatives however no arrests were made.
In the video that went viral on social media, around a dozen men can be seen landing in a clash and using swords and iron rods to attack each other. Then, suddenly a Scorpio jeep at a high-speed ram two men on the road and then same jeep again rammed another person after some time.
Station House Officer city Samana police station said, "We have booked 13 persons on the complaint of members of one group while seven persons on the complaint of another group that had landed in the clash. The accused are not arrested yet but the raids are on to nab them and they will be arrested soon. The case against them has been registered under various relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. A total of four injured persons were hospitalized in the government hospital. Further investigation into the matter is underway."
