Yavatmal: Pandharkawda police have registered criminal offences under Atrocity Act against the second wife of sitting BJP MLA Raju Todsam of Arni assembly constituency.
PSO Ramkrishna Mahalle of Pandharkawda said they have filed FIR against Priya Shinde (Todsam) under the Atrocity Act on a complaint from his first wife and others. However, Priya Shinde has alleged that the police are under pressure as they have not taken any cognizance of her complaint filed personally before the Yavatmal SP.

SP M Rajkumar confirmed the registration of criminal offence against Priya Shinde and said they would be waiting for her to come down to the police station to record her statement before registering any FIR against Todsam’s first wife Archana. He also promised to give her police protection if she comes to his office, and promised escort to the Pandharkawda police station by his men.

When asked why she is not attending the police station to record her statement, Priya Shinde said that her life is in danger in Pandharkawda and hence she has not responded to the call from the police.

Priya Shinde was thrashed publicly by the first wife of Todsam and her relatives in the middle of the road in February, and required treatment at a hospital.

Raju Todsam has now moved back to his first wife and their children in Pandharkawda, and Priya Shinde has gone back to her parents in Nagpur.
