Emotions ran high at the residence of Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy of the TRS here on Sunday as scores of supporters flocked his residence and made a fervent appeal to him to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha election from Khammam seat.
Upset by the denial of the party ticket to Mr. Reddy, his supporters, including many elected representatives of the rural and urban local bodies of the ruling TRS, met him on his arrival from Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon and many turned emotional.
The TRS leadership has picked former TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao as its candidate from Khammam seat on Thursday, hours after his entry into the party from the TDP.
A visibly emotional Mr Reddy tried to calm down the cadre and placated several inconsolable women cadres.
‘Faith in KCR’
Later, in a statement Mr. Reddy said he had complete faith in the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and party working president K. T. Rama Rao that every committed cadre of the party will get due recognition and suitable position.
Putting to rest speculations about his next course of action, Mr. Reddy said he would remain in the party and work for the victory of the candidate finalised by the party leadership for Khammam Lok Sabha seat.
