After reaching select cities across the country, the ‘Journey of Auroville’, a travelling roadshow to propagate the ideals and projects of the universal township coinciding with its golden jubilee celebrations, is set to launch another leg of art and cultural festival at Tiruvannamalai from March 23-25.
The festival aims to take a community-to-community approach to widen the nationwide awareness of the aims and ideals of Auroville on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
Auroville was conceived by The Mother as a place of an unending education, of constant progress, and a youth that never ages.
Programme schedule
The three-day programme will begin with Tamil and African fusion drumming by Mohanam students at 5 p.m. at the VDS Garden Bungalow opposite Ramana Ashram on Saturday.
Inauguration of the festival with exhibition, talk and video on Auroville will start at 5.30 p.m. followed by cultural event by Hamsini, Auroville, and classical dance and veena recitation by the youth of Auroville.
Open discussions
Dialogues on Auroville and Arunachala, between residents of Auroville and special guests of Ramana Ashram, Marudham School, Arunachala Sound Temple, and Arunachala volunteer community will take place at the same venue around 10 a.m. on Sunday.
An exhibition, talk and video about Auroville is being organsied at SKP Engineering College, Tiruvannamalai, on Monday at 11.30 a.m.
