Ludhiana: In a shocking incident, the police on Friday recovered the body of a newborn girl after it was allegedly being eaten by dogs in Samrala.

Police officials said on Friday afternoon, two persons — Satinder Singh and Vishwajeet Singh — saw a group of dogs feeding on something near Samrala Bypass. When the two went closer to the dogs, they were shocked to see them feeding on the newborn. Cops said it was with great effort that the duo recovered the baby’s body from the clutches of the dogs, and informed the police.

Police officials said a case was being registered against unidentified accused in the matter. They added that the female baby was a newborn as it still had the umbilical chord attached with its body. Cops said they suspected the baby’s mother might have thrown her away, as she did not want a girl.
