SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said she will re-contest from the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat, which she had won in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls . Her father, late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, too, has represented the seat as a Congress MP in the past.
Mufti told mediapersons here that PDP will field Aga Mohsin from Srinagar. PDP’s Abdul Qayoom Wani has already filed nomination papers from the Baramulla seat. Mehbooba said PDP will not field any candidate from the two Lok Sabha constituencies in the Jammu region to ensure that “secular votes are not divided”. A decision for the Ladakh seat will be taken soon, she added.
Mehbooba will take on the retired high court judge, Justice Syed Hasnain Masoodi, who will fight on a National Conference ticket.
