Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said the 47-page affidavit submitted by YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to the Election Commission certified his “criminal background.”
Addressing an election rally at Nagayalanka, Mr. Naidu said people would usually go through the affidavit to know about the assets of the contestants, but in Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s case, it would be interesting to note that most of the pages in the document pertained to his criminal antecedents.
“The affidavit, an official document, vouches for the criminal nature of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy. With such a past, one can imagine the role of Mr. Reddy in the murder of his uncle Vivekananda Reddy,” the Chief Minister said.
Lashing out at his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister accused them of supporting Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy with a view to hindering the progress of Andhra Pradesh on all fronts.
“I appeal to the people not to allow KCR to have control over A.P. with the tacit support of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy,” the Chief Minister said.
Water crisis
Referring to the water crisis on the island, the Chief Minister promised to address the issue and provide drinking water to each household by 2020.
Mr. Naidu promised to allot government land to the backward families on the island and sanction a bridge across the Krishna between Edurumondi and Etimoga villages.
Deputy Speaker and Avanigadda Assembly seat contestant Mandali Buddha Prasad and Machilipatnam Lok Sabha constituency contestant K. Narayana were present.
Mr. Naidu had to cut short his address as he suffered from some problem in his throat.
