GURUGRAM: Residents of Sector 56, Sector 14 and DLF 3 complained about power cuts in their respective areas on Friday, saying that electricity supply was worsening by the day, even though the summer season is yet to arrive .

Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) officials told TOI that they have not finished the preventive maintenance work, but it is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

Residents from DLF 3 told TOI that they faced multiple intermittent power cuts on Friday. “The cuts happen mostly during the mornings,” said Ashish, a resident, adding, “That is really problematic, because we are supposed to do all the important work in the morning.”

They questioned the authorities that if this was the situation now, what will the conditions be during the summer months.

“Power demands have not risen too much as of now. Even the ACs have not been turned on. And yet, we have been witnessing power outages,” said Indresh Yadav, a resident of Sector 14.

He added, “Even today, a few cuts were reported during the afternoon. When we called the officials, they said that they were replacing some cables.”

Meanwhile, officials of the DHBVN told TOI that no outage on the 11kV feeder line was enforced.

“When a cut happens on an 11kV power line, it affects a wider area. These cuts are problematic. They are local power cuts that happen due to local reasons. Individual households put too much load on the power transformer beyond their sanctioned load permits. As for the annual maintenance, it is still underway and will be concluded by the end of this month,” an official said
