A man and his wife, who were admitted to hospital for burn injuries, died. The 23-year-old woman died on Thursday while her husband died on Friday. They had sustained burn injuries after leaked gas in their house caught fire. The incident occurred as one of them plugged in a mobile phone which led to a spark that caused the fire, on Monday night.
They were admitted in a hospital in Ratibad where they told police about the incident before they died. Ratibad SHO Aditi Bhawsar said the woman Usha Pal worked as computer operator in RD Memorial institute and her 25-year-old husband Pritam Pal worked as a peon, there. It was on Monday night, as they were sleeping on bed that they plugged in their mobile phone.
Bhawsar said the woman had forgotten to shut the valve of gas cylinder that led to leakage. The valve was having a snag that is why she had opened it and later she forgot to shut it. The flat is located inside the institute. The husband and wife ran towards bathroom where they poured water on themselves to douse the flames and fainted. They were taken to a nearby hospital where Usha died on Thursday as she had sustained major injuries while her husband died on Friday. Ratibad police have registered a case in the incident and probe is on in the matter.
