There were speculations that the recently launched Huawei Nova 4e could be rebranded as the P30 Lite in certain markets. Now, there has been a slight slip up by Huawei Malaysia, which has confirmed the rumours. The upcoming Huawei P30 Lite is nothing but a rebranded Nova 4e, the official Malaysia website of the company has revealed. Huawei has scheduled the P30 series launch event for March 26th in Paris, but we already know everything about the new phones.
The Huawei Nova 4e was launched last week in China and the company recently launched a page for the phone on its Malaysia website as well. However, when you look at the images on the product page, you will find that they are stored in a folder called “p30-lite”. To check this yourself, simply head over to the Huawei Malaysia website, navigate to the Nova 4e, and right click on one of the images and open it in a new tab. Now look at the link in the address bar.
This isn’t totally surprising though as Huawei had previously launched the Nova 3e as the P20 Lite. The new Nova 4e is a watered-down variant of the Nova 4 mid-range smartphone, which was launched last year. It features a 6.15-inch LCD display with FHD+ resolution and a tiny waterdrop notch at the top. The phone is powered by the Kirin 710 chipset, which is paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. It gets a triple-rear camera setup with a primary 24-megapixel sensor, a secondary 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth unit.
For selfies, the phone is equipped with a 32-megapixel sensor. A 3,340mAh battery keeps the lights on and supports fast charging via USB Type-C port. Huawei has also included the GPU Turbo 2.0 feature on the phone, which should improve performance in games. The fingerprint scanner is placed at the rear. At the launch next week, the Huawei P30 Lite will be announced with the exact same features and will probably cost the same as the Nova 4e. The Huawei Nova 4e price is RMB 2,299 (~Rs 22,800).
