Baroda FC win FP Gaekwad Memorial tournament

Vadodara: Baroda FC won the prestigious FP Gaekwad Memorial Senior League-Cum-Knockout Tournament held at the M S University (MSU) pavilion. The club defeated Wanderers FC in a keenly contested final held on Saturday.
The finals of the tournament saw both the sides trying to make inroads into the opponents defence, but were largely unsuccessful. Chances to score came to both the teams, but they were unable to capitalise on them. The only goal in the finals was scored by Avi Amin in the 36th minute of the game.
Baroda FC, a senior team of the Baroda Football Academy had defeated Young Boys in the semi-finals while Wanderers FC had defeated MSU-A in the semis. In all 13 teams had participated in the tournament. The teams included those of clubs and academies registered with the Baroda District Football Association (BDFA). Dignitaries who remained present in the finals included Gaekwad Baroda Golf Club CEO Shivraj Kumar Khachar, Gujarat State Football Association vice president Arunsingh Rajput and MSU syndicate member Dinesh Yadav.
