Cops arrest 2, recover stolen goods and cash
TNN | Mar 23, 2019, 07:32 ISTLudhiana: Sadar police have arrested two burglars and recovered 220g gold, Rs 21,500 cash, one LED TV screen and one Ertiga car from their possession on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, both accused are drug addicts and had started carrying out thefts to meet their addiction. The accused used to target locked houses and escape with cash, jewellery and valuables. The two have been identified as Jatinder Singh (32) of Shimlapuri and Rahul Sharma (23) of New Janta Nagar.
The additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP- 2) Jaskiranjit Singh said the accused were arrested near Phullanwal village following a tip-off. While Jatinder Singh is already facing trials in nine cases of thefts and burglaries, Rahul claimed to have executed his first crime. The two got in touch due to their drug addiction and Jatinder convinced Rahul to join him and get easy money.
On March, 16 the accused targeted the house of an agriculturist Surinder Singh of Jhande village. The house owner was out of town when the accused escaped with 220g gold jewellery, Rs 21,500 in cash and one LED TV screen.
Further ADCP added that Jatinder was arrested by Ludhiana police in another theft case and was lodged in Jail. He came out on bail and again started executing burglaries. The police are expecting to uncover many other cases with the arrest of accused. They are still ascertaining Rahul’s criminal records.
