Defending champions Chennai Super Kings restricted Royal Challengers Bangalore to a very low score of 70 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, here on Saturday.
Chennai:
Shane Watson gone for a duck.
This was the second lowest total for RCB in IPL after 49 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
After all that build-up for this clash - the opening match of this season of IPL - Bangalore have been skittled out for 70.
CSK skipper Mahendra Singh won the toss and opted to bowl against Kohli's RCB.
After opting to bowl, Chahar and Harbhajan were summoned to bowl with the new ball and both of them completed their quota in one spell each.
The visitors, by that time, were reduced to 39-4 - with two of their best batsmen mishitting to deep mid-wicket and the exciting Hetmyer getting run-out. Bangalore could never recover from there as the home team kept applying pressure with two more spinners - Jaddu and Tahir.
Parthiv Patel was the only batsman to get into double-digits and he top-scored with 29.
Harbhajan and Tahir claimed three wickets each, while Jadeja claimed two wickets as RCB mainly lost wickets due to lack of application and poor shots.
