Ludhiana: In less than two months, Khanna police have arrested fifth Nigerian national with drugs.
In the latest case, Delhi-based Emeka Ezurf Polillouce of Logas in Nigeria was arrested with 300g heroin worth Rs 1.5 crore in the international market near the grain market on the GT Road in Khanna.

Emeka, 38, worked at a hotel and stayed at Chatarpura Devri Road in Delhi.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said as part of special campaign against drug trafficking, a police party was on patrolling duty from Bhattian village to Samrala Chowk Khanna on Thursday. He said cops saw a foreigner carrying a bag near the grain market and stopped him on suspicion.

The DSP Khanna was present on the spot. During checking, police found 300g heroin from Emeka’s bag. The accused was later booked under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at Khanna City-I police station.

The SSP said the accused is still being questioned and there is a possibility of major disclosure.

Officials said the accused was apparently staying illegally in India and may have overstayed his visa.

Police sources said perhaps the accused was coming to Punjab for the first time with a consignment. They said the accused was going towards Ludhiana to supply the drug and may have to deliver a part of it in Khanna.

Till July 13, 2018, Khanna police have arrested 22 Nigerian nationals with 10.748 kg heroin, 22g cocaine, 1.18 kg ice drug and 5g crack.
