Girl dies after being struck by vehicle at petrol station

A three-year-old-girl has died after being hit by a car at a BP petrol station north of Brisbane on Thursday evening.

The child was struck at the Burpengary station on the Bruce Highway about 5pm.

Paramedics worked to save the girl but she died at the scene.

The driver of the car was taken to the Caboolture Hospital suffering from shock.

Comments flooded regional social media groups on Thursday night as locals worked to see if their family members were involved.

One woman wrote: “Drove past tonight, it gave me chills knowing what had happened. When things like this happen it makes you realise how lucky you are”.

Another woman wrote: “A new bright star will be shining in our sky tonight ... RIP beautiful angel”.

The Forensic Crash Unit was investigating the incident.

The girl died hours after an 89-year-old woman was killed when her mobility scooter and a Mercedes-Benz collided at the Sunshine Coast.
