Hunt for the secret millionaires: Two lottery jackpot winners are yet to come forward – and could end up LOSING the money

  • The two winners won $1,018,499 each from  a lottery drawn before Christmas
  • Neither winner registered their ticket so lottery can't contact them
  • Each winner has a time limit  before their money is forfeited or surrendered

The hunt has began for two lottery jackpot winners who have won over $1m but have not come forward to claim their winnings.

The two mystery winners have won $1,018,499.24 each from a lotto prize pool drawn just before Christmas last year and their winning tickets may have been gifts.

Neither winner registered their ticket so the lottery does not have their contact information.

The winning numbers were 5, 14, 41, 29, 43 and 9 with the supplementary numbers being 37 and 15.

One entry was purchased at Connection Newsagency, Hunter Connection in Sydney's CBD and the other was purchased at Coburg Hub Lotto in Melbourne.

Tatts Lotto spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said that anyone who received a lottery ticket for Christmas needs to get it checked.

'If you received a ticket inside a Christmas card that you haven't checked yet - you could be sitting on a million dollars,' Ms Spencer said to Seven News.

Both the winning tickets have varying collection time frames before the money is forfeited or surrendered.

The Melbourne winner has three months to claim their winnings before the large sum of money is surrendered to the state's revenue office.

The Sydney winner's money will be forfeited in five and a half years if it is not collected.
