Karnataka minister CS Shivalli dies of heart attack
Sangamesh Menasinakai | TNN | Mar 22, 2019, 15:22 ISTHUBBALLI: Municipal administration minister CS Shivalli, 57, died at a private hospital here on Friday after suffering a massive heart attack.
He was admitted to KIMS earlier in the morning but was later shifted to a private hospital.
Channabasappa Satyappa Shivalli represented Kundgol assembly constituency in Dharwad district.
Shivalli was closely monitoring rescue operations at building crash site in Dharwad and had complained of fatigues and tiredness.
KIMS Superintendent Dr Arun Kumar said that he had suggested the minister to get admitted to a hospital for treatment. “As he was suffering from cough and other ailments, we had suggested him to get admitted for treatment. He had said he will return on Friday,” he recalled.
Thousands of Shivalli’s followers have gathered at the hospital. Additional police force has been deployed at and near the hospital to maitain law and order in the area.
Shivalli had entered into politics by contesting as Congress candidate 1994 assaembly elections. But had entered assembly in 1999 as an independent candidate. He was elected again in 2013 and 2018 consecutively.
Shivalli underwent bypass surgery last year.
